Unified rank system#

The regulations approved by Decree 058 of 09/12/3243 introduce a unified table of 10 ranks. ISS, MOJ and MOH use civil service ranks; MOD and MIA use military ranks; MFA uses diplomatic ranks. An official holds one rank. Ranks in different institutions correspond by ordinal number.

Ranks 1-4 belong to junior personnel; 5-6 to junior officers; 7-9 to senior officers; and 10 to leadership. The Emperor appoints leaders and grants their ranks. Other promotions follow the regulations and acts of the competent heads.

Under martial law, the corresponding military ranks are used automatically, with the service identified. Modern names of junior military ranks differ from the historical table.

Military ranks#

2Junior SergeantSenior soldier, specialist
3SergeantJunior commander, squad commander
4Warrant officer / EnsignSenior member of enlisted and sergeant personnel, specialist; squad command or platoon command when officers are scarce

6Senior LieutenantPlatoon, special service, adjutant
7CaptainCompany, department or service, specialist field
8MajorBattalion, fortress, department or service
9ColonelIndependent regiment, division, regional special unit, deputy Minister of Defence
10GeneralFormation, branch of the armed forces, Minister of Defence

In the modern system an ensign is not a junior officer. Bronze insignia metal is prescribed for this rank. The Emperor is Supreme Commander-in-Chief, corresponds to the highest level in the table and is described as the first among generals.

Appointments and advancement reflect qualifications and service needs. A shortage of commanders and rapid promotion for merit are characteristic. Detailed unit establishments and the total size of the army have not been established.

The current command model provides a separate deputy for the Minister of Defence. Other chiefs may have one authorised assistant-adjutant, combining the functions of adviser, secretary and representative. Early historical decrees contain other deputy appointments; these cannot be treated as descriptions of the modern establishment.

Callsigns#

Living Mobians use callsigns associated with individual qualities and service virtues: Duty, Honour, Loyalty, Valor. Two-syllable pronunciation is preferred; Loyalty is pronounced [loɪti]. Numerical callsigns are not the accepted system for living Mobians.

Greek designations are common for machinery: MP-122 Ψ / Psi, MP-120 φ / Phi, and, in the original robotics aesthetic, E-series models.

Uniform and armament#

The Emperor designed the state uniform. There are departmental uniforms and summer and winter variants; winter uniform was on the agenda of the meeting of 03/12/3243. The Emperor's appearance includes a light double-breasted uniform. Swamp-green clothing and armour are established for soldiers in the HOI4 visual canon.

Weapons development discussions included SLR-ME No.3, a semi-automatic rifle based on the Enfield system, followed by a preference for an automatic rifle using a full-power rifle cartridge. These are design concepts: discussion does not establish adoption into service. Exact specifications and production quantities have not been established.
